Trade Regrets: Steve Kirman, March 3, 2012

It is with heavy heart that we at Professional Sound announce the passing of Steve Kirman, President and Founder of the Steve’s Music chain of music stores. Kirman died on Saturday, March 3, 2012.

Kirman opened the first Steve’s Music 47 years ago in Montreal in 1965 when he was 19 years old. That store, located at 51 Rue St-Antoine Ouest, remains a landmark in the city, serving a significant segment of its music community looking to rent PA and other sound equipment. Throughout the years, Steve’s Music opened two additional locations in Toronto and Ottawa.

A funeral service for Kirman will take place at Montreal’s Paperman & Sons (3888 Jean Talon St. W.) on Tuesday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Beth Ora Congregation Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. Shiva to be announced.

CMT extends sympathy to Kirman’s family, friends, and colleagues during this time of mourning.
