Sound Ideas Acquires Sounddogs

Toronto-based sound effects company Sound Ideas has completed the purchase of the online sound effects web site, started in August 1996 and by May of 1997 it was the world’s first online commercial sound effects and production music library. Their high profile and well-respected product line includes the Soundstorm library, a seven-time nominee and winner of an Academy Award for Best Sound Editing.

Sound Ideas has a long history of collaboration with and its owner Rob Nokes. “Rob is a leader in the industry. His reputation as a sound recorder, designer and editor is unmatched; and the skill with which he has developed and grown the brand and site is remarkable," says Brian Nimens, owner of Sound Ideas. "I have known Rob for decades and I am thrilled that Sound Ideas will be able to move forward with the name.”

“Brian was among the first sound effects producers to provide content to the site and he is still a large contributor. Our friendship goes back longer than either of us might like to admit, but it gives me peace of mind to know that the site and brand will continue as a force under his direction,” says Rob Nokes.

The site offers over 1 million sounds for immediate purchase, license and download and it is the intention of Sound Ideas to not only maintain but grow its online presence.
