This appointment comes as Point Source Audio celebrates its 10th anniversary with a growing number of innovations under its belt, according to the company, including the first fully redundant microphones, winning Best of Show and Top 5 product awards, and securing patents on both its Embrace microphones and CM-i Series headsets.
Sides began his relationship with Point Source Audio as a consultant in late 2017 as the company fortified its mission to accelerate its expansion worldwide. In recent years and months, the company’s distribution network has grown to include leading pro audio partners such Autograph Sales in the UK, Avon Lyd in Norway, AVP Sales in Sweden, AudioLink in Italy, Seastone Technology in Finland, and establishing distribution in Australia and Southeast Asia with ISL Systems.
“We are extremely pleased to have Jim officially on our team. Sides brings with him nearly four decades of experience in the entertainment industry, including senior management positions at Apogee Sound, NEXO USA/SA, Meyer Sound Labs, and co-founder of VUE Audiotechnik and founder of entertainment consultancy, Eklektric.
“I have had the great opportunity over the years to work throughout Canada with many Canadian companies beginning in 1986 and continuing through today. I, of course, like most manufacturers’ sales and marketing executives in the U.S. began using the traditional distribution model for Canada and that worked for many years. But as in all things, change is inevitable, particularly with the advent of NAFTA, the internet, touring, shows, installations and more direct contacts with dealers and end users. Subsequently, the need for a master distributor in Canada, especially with pro audio products like Point Source Audio, can be problematic in obtaining and maintaining good business partnerships and driving and growing the market at the grass roots level,” Sides tells Professional Sound. “It is with this understanding of the market that PSA decided to go direct to our dealer base in late 2017. In doing so, we feel that we can offer better customer service, technical support, education and other intrinsic support functions that only we at PSA can fulfill for the Canadian market as a whole. I look forward to working closely with all my friends and colleagues in Canada that I have made over the years and establishing new relationships in the coming years. Exciting times!“
