The Music Industries Association of Canada (MIAC), organizers of The PAL Show, has announced that its proposed regional conference and roadshow in Calgary, previously announced for the fall of 2012, has been postponed.
“Calgary is a very busy market, & as we looked at the available dates in the appropriate venues we were unable to find a combination that worked for the needs of our exhibitors & attendees,” says Dale Kroke, Chairman of the MIAC Board of Directors. “As a result, the Board of Directors felt it best to defer the event into the future. We remain committed to working with our membership to find the best means to address the regional needs of our industry & look forward to exploring future options.”
MIAC also announced it is undertaking a strategic review of its overall services & capabilities, with the aim of aligning the Association & its operations more closely with the needs of its members.
“At our board meeting on August 14 in Toronto we will be looking at all aspects of our business model, from funding sources to membership services & trade show operations,” remarks Kroke. “In challenging times we have to insure we are aligned with what our membership expects & that we can provide cost-effective solutions through the Association. At this critical time for our organization we invite any member who would like to contribute their thoughts or ideas to contact anyone on the Board of Directors or the MIAC office.”
