CITT/ICTS hosted its 29th annual Rendez-vous trade show and conference at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre and Yukon Arts Centre in Whitehorse, YT from Aug. 14-16. Pre-conference workshops ran from Aug. 12-13 with post-conference workshops running Aug. 17-18.
The event offered three days of educational sessions, workshops, a trade show exhibition, social events, and networking opportunities for professionals in the theatre and live production industry. As with CITT/ICTS's recent Expo-Scène show, the educational program for Rendez-vous was rebranded as TEC Talks and featured seminars relevant to lighting, video, staging, and audio professionals.
"Rendez-vous 2019 welcomed delegates and exhibitors from all across Canada to the Yukon," begins CITT/ICTS President Angela Drainville. "This represents the first time that the conference and trade show have travelled to Canada's north, and facilitated conversations around CITT/ICTS' role as a national organization. The experience in Yukon was a transformative one for many, and I am proud of the work of the staff at the national office, as well as of the work of the local host committee in putting this life-changing experience together for our members."
The event welcomed back usual favourites like the opening party, which was hosted at the MacBride Museum, as well as the New Product Show and Tell Breakfast, Swag Bingo, and the networking luncheon.
The annual CITT/ICTS Awards Banquet recognized and honoured the work of CAPACAO (Honorary Membership Award), Larry Darling of Show Tech AVL (Supplier Corporate Achievement Award), Scott Miller of DWD Theatre Design + Consulting Inc. (Award of Technical Merit), Janelle Rainville (Educational Achievement Award), Gary Baillie of Blue Feather Music Festival (Ron Epp Memorial Award for Professional Achievement), and past board member Michael Harris (Dieter Penzhorn Memorial Award).
Next up, CITT/ICTS will host its annual Expo-Scene show from March 25-26, 2020 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. Get more information at www.citt.org.
